    • What Does a Garden Do in Fall?

Ricardo with the gunneraWhere did the summer go?

The end of the 2012 open season at PowellsWood was just last week, and it was such a beautiful time to visit the garden! But just because the garden gates close, that doesn’t mean our work is done… and neither is yours, we imagine.

If you’re like us, the offseason is the time for a lot of really big projects… like taking in non-hardy and tropical plants such as Brugsmansia and geraniums, and prepping other more hardy tropicals like gunnera for overwintering. You also might want to do some mulching and overseeding projects in the fall as well, while you’re raking all those leaves off your lawns and out of your beds!

And don’t let the rain bother you. Just get on the right gear, and go out there. And be safe!
