PowellsWood Seeks Head Gardener

Head Gardener Avril Steele will be retiring from her position at PowellsWood later this year. We will miss her sorely—and have begun a search for her replacement. Here's the job listing we've posted on Craigslist:

40-acre property in South King County seeks Head Gardener to manage the fully-developed 2.5 acre public garden, residence grounds, landscape maintenance staff, budgets, and business development.

Our is a unique situation, and we are seeking an equally unique person—someone who is enthusiastic, creative, and in excellent physical condition. This is a hands-on position that involves design, installation, and maintenance of seasonal and permanent plantings; operation of garden machinery; extensive pruning of trees and shrubs; familiarity with irrigation systems operation and maintenance; and help with special events, classes, and garden tours.

Applicants must have sound horticultural knowledge, good general education, solid communication skills, and relevant hands-on experience. Some knowledge of Spanish and the Internet desirable.

Salary DOE.
