Feb. 14-18: Northwest Flower and Garden Show

Coming Wednesday, February 14 through Sunday, February 18 at the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle (7th and Pike). The show is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. On Sunday, the show is open from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Feb. 13: Professor Van Pelt on "Forest Giants"

Topic: "Forest Giants of the Pacific Coast." Tuesday, February 13 at 10:00am, Bloedel Reserve. Robert Van Pelt is Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington, and recently published Forest Giants of the Pacific Coast.

Feb. 10: Arboretum Nature Walk This Saturday

Saturday, February 10, noon to 2 pm. Join UW Botanic Gardens education staff members Shawna Zuege and Lisa Sanphillippo for a walking tour through winter flowering gardens, woodland gardens and romantic spots. Meet at the Graham Visitors Center, UW Arboretum. $10; pre-registration required.

  • Sky Nursery, Shoreline: Saturday, 11 a.m. -- General Pruning. No fee.
  • West Seattle Nursery: Saturday, noon to 3 p.m. -- Hands-on pruning class. $20, limited to 10 people, preregister at 206-935-9276.
  • Cloud Mountain Farm: Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to noon -- Successful Fruit Tree Growing. The workshop is held outside, so dress appropriately. No fee. For information, call 360-966-5859.
